Today's "Byte of Info" is a way to check for accidental spaces in your URLs. If you are an ezine publisher, then you know that if there is a space in your URL, it will usually open to an error page.

If you'll look at your html page, you will see that where there are accidental spaces in URLs, "%20" appears. One way to quickly check your ezines and website pages for accidental spaces is to:
--open your HTML page;
--use your search/find feature and search for %20;
--remove %20 (in the HTML page) or the space (in your view page).
--check the URL to make sure it opens properly.

This quick method will ensure that all your links are viable and will open properly for your readers.

In this day and age, internet marketing is emerging as one of the most viable and cost-effective marketing methodologies especially for small businesses. Here are three easy steps that you can follow for an effective e-marketing plan.

The process of using digital technology in order to sell goods or service is called e-marketing. With the growth of technology and the internet, it has become imperative for businesses to use e-marketing strategies to supplement their traditional marketing methods so as to generate more product sales and to reach a wider market.

E-businesses, though, would generally focus their attention on e-marketing alone. E-marketing uses the same basic concepts as that of traditional marketing. The purpose is to devise strategies in order to deliver your message across to your target market.

The difference with e-marketing lies in the options available to you when marketing and advertising your products, services or business. Of course, you could always use the traditional method, but it is wiser to take advantage of the marketing opportunities that the internet gives.

E-marketing produces tremendous results in terms of increased market share, high margins of profit and continued customer patronage. It is also ideal for small and medium-sized businesses for e-marketing is more affordable and less effort-intensive.

Nevertheless, in order to launch an effective e-marketing campaign, you would first have to create an e-marketing plan. The focus of an e-marketing plan is to ensure high response from prospective customers. Below is a summary of steps for creating an effective e-marketing plan.

Step 1: Determine your target market

Before anything else, you must identify your market. Rank and profile them accordingly and assign resources to each target group. Know their expectations, requirements, needs and wants so that you would have an idea how to go about with your sales pitch. This would also help you in determining your costs and ascertaining your expected benefits. It is also important that you study the market environment and your competitors' marketing strategies, and give due notice to all possible opportunities.

Step 2: Set e-marketing plan objectives and e-marketing methods

You must immediately set your objectives for your marketing campaign. Are you aiming to increase product or business awareness? Are you aiming for higher website traffic? Would you like to rank high in search engine results? Your objectives may include establishing and raising your e-presence, disseminating business information and sales leads generation.

After determining your objectives, you must establish the e-marketing methods you would use to achieve your objectives. It is not advisable for you to use just one method. It is always wiser to use multiple e-marketing methods.

Step 3: Set a budget and determine your strategies

You should identify the strategies and techniques that you would use to launch your e-marketing campaign. Determine the tactics you would use for implementing your marketing methods. You should formulate strategies that are geared towards capturing your target market's attention. You must position and differentiate your strategies and establish your priorities.

It is also very important that you carefully budget your expenses, regardless of what objective you have set and what methods you would like to employ. Make sure that your costs will not spiral out of your control. Use the cost/benefit analysis in order to determine an acceptable budget. The benefits should more than compensate for your marketing costs.

How To Build A Profitable Email List

Email marketing is still the most cost effective way to build your online business, and the best way to succeed with email marketing is to have your own quality mailing list.

An opt in email list contains addresses of people who have agreed to receive information from you, whether that be a newsletter or promotions relating to your online business. It is very important that you get peoples permission first before sending them any information. If you are accused of spam then your ISP may cancel your account.

Building a profitable email list takes a lot of persistence and patience, but it is possible. More importantly a permission based email list can bring you much better results then a purchased one. Why? Because a permission based email list

consists of people that you know are interested in what you are offering. Who knows what the people on a purchased list are interested in.

Your mailing list can consist of current customers, old customers, potential customers, prospects and new leads.

How can you get started?

- The single most important thing that you can do to build your list is to have a sign up form on your website. If not, then you are missing out on an easy way to grow your list. Not only should you put the form on your home page, but put it on every page you have as well. Do it now! Go to GetResponse and get set up as soon as possible.

- Any form at all on your website should ask for permission for you to send out future mailings. If someone downloads one of your ebooks make sure you ask for their email address so you can send them updates. You get the idea.

- One way to build your email list is to use classified advertising. Classified ads work very well for finding new prospects. Offer a free report or article relating to your topic of interest. Classified ads work great when you use such lines as: write for further information, free report or software, etc. Be creative in your ads and have fun as you build your email list.

- Partner with other websites that are similar to your own. Ask to exchange links or banner ads for your newsletter, or see if they could add your newsletter to their opt in form.

- Contact other email marketers who already own a list and advertise your newsletter or website in their newsletters. You can also inquire about solo ads. Solo ads are a good way to promote your newsletter because your ad is sent out solo to all the addresses on a list. - Viral marketing is a good way to generate interest in your newsletter and help to build your email list. Always include a forward to a friend link in every one of your newsletters as well as a sign up link for those new readers.

- The truth is that once your subscribers believe and trust in you then they will buy from you. You can build this trust by publishing articles relating to your websites content. Use your resource box or author bio to advertise your newsletter.

- Put together a forum or discussion group on your website to find out what your customers wants may be and then target those wants.

- Join other forums and provide recommendations and expert advice to help build your reputation.

- Make friends with someone who has a successful email list. Experience is the best teacher.

Every successful business should have a mailing list, but failing to communicate with your list could mean losing the most valuable asset of your business.

The key to Internet success is to get your business noticed and one of the most effective ways to do this is by building an opt in email list.

If you are still not sure of the importance of building your own targeted opt in email list then here are a few more tips that you may find useful.

1. Determine your target market. It will be much more difficult to build your list if you do not have a particular market in mind. Having a target market will also allow you to focus more on your campaigns which will give you better results since you are directing your emails to those who will most likely respond to them.

2. Your target market should be widely available on the Internet. How can you promote your online business if no one is interested? Research your market and avoid wasting any time.

3. Use the search engines to verify your target markets income producing potential. Search for ads that contain keywords relating to your interest and if you find many then you know that if people are willing to pay for advertising relating to your market then chances are good that you picked a winner.

It takes alot of preparation and effort to build a profitable email list and it does not happen overnight. They are built one email address at a time. As your list gets bigger it is important to maintain the quality of your list. Keep it clean and organized. Most of all, make sure your subscribers are satisfied and if they are, then they will make sure you are too.

The success of your online business depends on your opt in email list. Consider your list as valuable as gold and as most successful online marketers say, the money is in the list.

UVC, UVB And UVA - Do You Know The Difference?

We all know that the sun causes a lot of damage to the body. As well as the risk of skin cancer, there is also the risk of burning and premature ageing. If we do not protect ourselves properly we really are putting our health at an unnecessary risk.

So just how much do you know about the sun and the dangers? Obviously we are warned all the time, but do you understand why the suns rays? Do you know which one out of UVC, UVB or UVA is worse for you? Thought not!

The Difference between UVC, UVB and UVA Radiation

The sun gives off various different levels of radiation and they are categorized into three main groups.

These are: UVC

UVC does not bother the skin at all as it is all soaked up into the ozone layer. This type of radiation is also found in things such as germicidal lamps and mercury arc lamps.

UVB

This type of radiation does affect the skin and its main target is the epidermis, or the outer layers. This is the main radiation which causes sunburn and it is usually at its strongest between 10.00am and 2.00pm. This is generally when the sun is at its brightest and in the summer months this type of radiation accounts for up to 70% of a person's annual UVB dose. As strong as it is, it cannot travel through glass.

UVA

UVA radiation is a main contributor to skin cancer. It used to be thought that it was actually only a minor problem for the skin, but studies have shown that it is in fact quite severe. This is because it goes deeper into the skin than USB radiation and it often is more constant throughout the year. This type of radiation also cannot go through glass.

The Damage They Can Cause

As well as skin cancer, the suns radiation can also cause problems with the eyes including cataracts and other eye damage. It can also affect the immune system and stop it from working properly.

Too much sun exposure can also cause problems with the texture of the skin. It can often become either thicker or thinner due to the radiation. Thicker skin generally appears with wrinkles, especially at the back of the neck. Thinner skin tends to create fine lines and it bruises a lot easier too.

The blood vessels are also affected by the sun and the walls of the vessels often become thinner. This usually leads to bruising and sometimes the appearance of tiny blood vessels can occur on the face.

Bumps in the skin may also appear, especially moles. These do have to be kept an eye on though as they could become cancerous. Lesions and other bumps can also make an appearance and again they need to be kept an eye on.

The Various Strengths of UV Radiation

The suns radiation is not always really strong. You can usually tell how high the levels are going to be on your local weather forecast. They are mainly given out during the summer months so that you know which strength sunscreen to buy, however they do sometimes give them out in cooler months too. The higher the radiations, the more chance of getting burnt you have, and the higher protection factor you will need.

Various things can affect the radiation levels and if there is snow on the ground for example, a lot of radiation bounces off the snow and it can go straight into the body. The cloud cover makes a difference too, as does the height of the sun. If the sun is really high in the sky the UV levels will also be really high.

Overall various factors affect the UV levels and you should always check to see which protection factor strength you will need. The sun's radiation can really do our skin some damage so it is better to cover up than to grow old too quickly and develop various skin problems!
