55 Hot Tips For Boosting Your Direct Marketing-Part I

Direct Marketing has to be the most exciting area of marketing. The results of a winning mailing are truly thrilling. Few things can compare with opening your mailbox to find a flood of emails or envelopes filled with orders and checks made out to you! And if you can increase the response to your offer by just a fraction of a percent, you can turn a slight profit into windfall profits.

So one of the key questions marketers have always ask is, "How do I increase the response to my mailings?" In this first part of a two part article, you'll learn 25 of the 55 excellent techniques for making sure your mailings pull a stronger response.

Not all of these techniques will work for every mailing you create. The key is to review the techniques whenever you're planning a mailing. Pick the ones that apply to your situation and put them to work. Your bank account will be glad you did!

1. Carefully target your audience.
Sales volume can be directly connected to your ability to accurately identify your most likely customers. If necessary, create different versions of your package tailored to each specifically targeted audience.

2. Solve your customer's most irritating problems.
Most customers don't buy products, but they do buy solutions to problems that plague them. If your product solves a critical problem, pull out all stops to let your customers know.

3. Help your customers achieve significant goals.
This is the complement of the prior point. If you can clearly show that your product or service will make your customer's lives easier or better, your sales volume should shoot straight up.

4. Focus on your customer's needs, not your product.
Customers have limited interest in your product or company. But they have unlimited interest in their needs, solutions to their problems, and making their lives better. Concentrate on fulfilling their needs through the use of your product or service.

5. ALWAYS stress benefits.
Always concentrate on how your product will benefit your customers-both logically and emotionally. Hit the right hot buttons and your sales will skyrocket.

6. Repeat your key benefits in the beginning, middle, and end of your email, letter or brochure.
Tell your readers once, tell them again, and then tell them one more time. Remember, people buy benefits, not products.

7. Use the "4 to 1" rule.
Your sales copy should contain four "you's" to every one "I." Customers want to hear about their number one priority-themselves. One of the best ways to convey that you understand your customer's needs is to use plenty of "you" language.

8. Use a stop-them-in-their-tracks headline or first sentence.
Some letters and emails benefit from a headline while others don't. Either the headline or first sentence must be very powerful in order to convince your prospects that your letter is worth reading.

9. Use sub-headings liberally.
Subheads help break up long blocks of copy. They also act as a "hot point" outline to pull the reader through the key ideas of your email or ad.

10. Seize the reader's attention immediately.
Don't waster space building up to your blockbuster points. Start with them. You have only a paragraph or two to convince your prospects to keep reading your letter. Give them what they need to make sure they continue.

11. Flatter your reader.
These days people are much more sophisticated when it comes to advertising. They know that you got their name from a mailing list. You can turn this fact to your advantage by suing this kind of copy.

12. Share some "inside" information.
Direct mail offers a perfect opportunity to appeal to a person's need to feel special. An ideal way to do this is to share some exclusive information. Make it clear that this offer is being made only to them.

13. Issue a personal letter from the President.
People like to deal with the person in charge. Using this type of personal message builds confidence.

14. Never end a sentence at the bottom of a page in a sales letter.
Always use a broken sentence to carry your reader forward onto the next page of your letter or email.

15. Feature the offer.
Everyone loves a good deal. Your job is to design an irresistible offer and make it a key focal point of your letter or email. A strong offer can often be the extra incentive that will convert your "maybes" to real live orders.

16. Give something away for FREE.
Free samples, trials, demonstrations, consultations, or information are all exceptional ways of getting customers to give your product or service a hands-on try. Sometimes that is all it takes to close the sale.

17. Run a contest.
Give away a free enrollment in your seminar, a free subscription to your newsletter, or anything else that appeals to your buyers.

18. Use a special "before the price increases" offer.
If you plan to raise your prices, make your regular customers a special offer at the old price for a limited time.

19. Repeat your offer.
An irresistible offer can overcome customers reluctance. State it at least twice in your email or letter, and again on your order form.

20. Make a time-limited offer.
Offer a special deal for a limited period of time. And do just that-legally you can't continue a time-limited offer indefinitely.

21. Base your offer on a limited supply.
A close-out of your inventory can create strong demand. A limited supply offer can be used to designate exclusivity and prestige.

22. Offer a special deal to the first 100 people who order.
Or the first 25, 50, 250 and so on. But remember, the key here is to keep it to a meaningful limit as an incentive for customers to act quickly.

23. Make a charter offer.
This approach is ideal for new products, subscriptions,and service agreements. If your product isn't new, consider starting a membership club and offering charter members special benefits.

24. Make a "last chance" offer.
Last chance at this price, inventory close-outs, and last chance before a model change can all be used to successfully win more orders.

25. "Buy 1 get 1 FREE" always outpulls "2 for the price of 1."
Although the savings are precisely the same, the first format sounds like the customer is getting a better bargain.

As mentioned in the beginning, not all of these techniques will work for every mailing you create. The key is to review the techniques whenever you're planning a mailing. Pick the ones that apply to your situation and put them to work.

In part two you'll learn about boosting the pulling power of your mailings.

In the meantime you have plenty of ideas to apply in your marketing. So go to work and try them out!

Inbound Links are the life blood of a website and the Pathway to Success revolves around these links. In a broad sense these inbound links can be categorized under three groups, Good, Bad and Useless Links.

The good links can indeed sky-rocket your website up the popularity ladder to fame and fortune while on the other hand the bad Links can dump your website out of sight in the internet. The useless Links will be of no help or value to you. So it stands to reason that you cultivate good links if you want to be successful in your online business.

Useful Good Inbound Links:

These links will bring enormous benefits to your website. They can increase your search engine visibility which will indicate the popularity of your site thus increasing your link popularity, page rank, traffic and sales.

If you have unique and useful content in your site other websites will link to your site to provide their website visitors a good website experience. This will give you useful inbound links and valuable targeted traffic.

Listing your website in both paid and free high ranking web directories can give good one way inbound links. Some free directories might insist on reciprocal linking but this should not be of concern to you as they are all useful links.

Writing quality authoritative articles and submitting them to article directories and article distributors with your website URL in the resource box is a smart way of obtaining one way links. This will soon grow viral as webmasters publish them in their articles and ezines bringing you hundreds or even thousands of valuable one way links.

Search Engines do not devalue all reciprocal links. They do appreciate quality, theme related reciprocal links. In addition it will be a great bonus if you can identify sites that the search engines consider as authority sites in the same theme as your site and exchange links with them.

Social Book marking is becoming increasingly popular day by day. Here you can maintain a personal collection of links online and also allow access to any others online. Linking your site or articles to popular social sites is another great way of obtaining useful good links and traffic.

Bad Inbound Links:

These are inbound links that are disliked by search engines especially Google and can do enormous harm to your website. By linking to these websites knowingly or unknowingly, you can be penalized or blacklisted by the search engines.

Avoid linking to sites search engines consider as Link Farms. These are sites that have hundreds of assorted links linking to each other in a page. By linking to them your credibility will be at stake and probably be penalized by the search engines.

Search Engines disapprove Free For All sites also known as FFA sites. Here you can place an advertisement with your link in it. Your advertisement will appear along with thousands of others and would probably get an exposure of an hour or so. It is wise to keep away from these sites.

You should also avoid Bad Neighborhoods because these are websites that have been penalized or banned by the search engines. By linking to them you too risk being penalized by the search engines.

Useless Inbound Links:

Some inbound links are neither good nor bad. They are in fact useless and of no benefit to you.

You should avoid linking to sites that are irrelevant to the theme of your website even if they are of high page rank. Search Engines are not going to give any credit for this and you will hardly get any targeted traffic from them either.

Similarly linking to websites with very low PR even if they are of the same theme will not be of immediate benefit.

Conclusion:
Ultimately the secret of your success will depend on the inbound links you obtain from useful good websites and ignoring all the others. The obvious results will be increase in link popularity, good search engine placement and great traffic.

Lets face it eventually everyone will grow old for it's impossible to decelerate or turn back time. You might be rather happy to discover the good news - that getting older does not have much to do with the ageing process, the rate at which our bodies age. Everyone knows someone who looks older than his or her age, and envies someone who can pass for being ten years younger.

We all know the physical indicators that are associated with the aging process. Some of these are brittle bones, muscle loss, wrinkles, sagging skin, memory loss, and poor eyesight. Thankfully, some of these medical conditions can be reversed, while those that can't can be either prevented or delayed. So in order to live a vigorous, healthier life, let's see what we can do to delay aging.

Malnutrition is a major cause of premature aging. Most people start aging early in life because of their poor diet. Your body requires certain essential nutrients and vitamins everyday to function normally. A healthy diet is vital for living a longer life, but don't worry, this does not mean sacrificing everything! All that is needed to achieve the maximum benefit for our bodies is to make a few small, simple changes in our everyday lives that will lead to higher levels of energy and vigour and increase our chances of longevity.

Stress is another large factor in premature aging. Many kinds of health-related problems can be caused by leading stressful lives - it's something we've all heard before and it's true. Too much stress can take a toll on one's health by contributing to high blood pressure, heart attacks, and strokes. Stress negatively impacts our metabolism and vital processes, which make us look run-down, tired, and older than we really are. To sum up, we need to learn how to handle stress effectively if we want to improve the quality of our lives.

Everyone is aware of the phrase "use it or lose it". Human beings were a species of hunter-gatherers back in primitive times and thus have bodies designed for movement. Getting regular good exercise will help us lose fat and become stronger. Our heart and lungs will become conditioned with aerobic activity, improving our cardio-vascular system. Also our immune system will be in top form, helping us be disease resistant. Exercise burns more calories which increases the metabolism; and working out is also an excellent means of letting of steam and lowering levels of stress.

It is important to exercise your brain as well as your body. By staying mentally active, especially as we get older, you can avoid age related conditions. Remember the old adage "use it or lose it!" An excellent way to work out your brain is to try crosswords, sudoku puzzles, or chess. By doing these types of activities regularly, you can keep your mind active and alert as you age.

When babies breathe, their abdomens raise gently with each breath. Adults should look to babies to learn about proper breathing. Unfortunately, as we grow our breathing becomes shallower. The only way to get rid of all the carbon dioxide in your body is to use proper breathing techniques (deep and through the diaphragm). Proper breathing techniques have been important to the Asian people for hundreds of years. Some of these practices, such as Yoga and Tai Chi, are now becoming fashionable in the west.

Anti-oxidants are also essential for a long and healthy life so eat your greens!. There has been a lot of discussion over the effectiveness of supplements; however, our bodies benefit more if they receive their vitamins from proper food. Attempt to introduce garlic, olive oil and natural nuts into your day-to-day diet for a long-term effect. Certain fruits, vegetables, and seeds have been recognized as 'power foods' - foods that have a significant impact on delaying the ageing process and keeping us looking youthful.

When you follow this advice, you can delay aging, look younger and feel more revitalized. If you start now, you can not only improve the quality or your life, but help to prolong it as well. By making simple changes every day, you can help yourself achieve a longer, healthier, and happier life.
