One of the best strategies for assisting your website visitors and also creating a higher search engine rating, is the use of a Site Map.

When a new reader comes to your site, it is essential that they not have to struggle to find what they need. If they do have to struggle, they will be gone in a split second! Having a link to a Site Map at the top of every page or in your side-bar menu will give them immediate and instant encouragement to "stay" on your website.

Site Maps are one of the tools that can increase Search Engine Ratings. Use the strategy of a Site Map as the inner-wheel of your website and your ratings will definitely rise.

5 Points To Building Content That Has Website Optimization

Search engines look for website optimization when looking for content that you have created. The following points will help you to make your site search engine friendly. As well, you will benefit by giving your visitors a quality experience.

If you are not familiar with web site optimization, it involves making sure that the appropriate keywords are used throughout your content. You must be careful not to overdo it, however, or your site could get banned, or sandboxed. If this happens, it can take months to get out, if you even can. Some sites never do recover. Owners have to start over with an entirely new domain.

You only need to understand and follow these 5 easy rules to avoid having it happen to your site.

1. Make sure the keywords are highly relevant to your site content. The more targeted your keyword phrases are, the more the search engines will like it. This is good, because it means your site will be one of the first ones that pops up when someone searches for those phrases.

2. Restrict your keywords use so that your content does not break the rules set out by the search engines. Filling your site with a lot of related keywords will be viewed by the search engines as keyword spamming. Many web site content writers make this critical error. In their attemps to attract the search engines, they get the exact opposite.

3. Use your keywords naturally. Your visitors will be reading your content. If it is loaded with keyword phrases, it soon becomes obvious. This will turn them off and they will leave your site, and you will lose that business. The search engines aim to provide users with the most accurate results. Ignore that and your site will receive a low page rank and unhappy prospects.

4. Focus on one or two keyword phrases for each page. Disperse them naturally throughout your content. For a 500-word article, you should place your keyword in your title, in the first paragraph, in the last paragraph and once more in the center. In longer articles of 800-1000 or more use your keyword more times. The standard is: In a 500 word article, the keyword should appear no more than 3 times.

5. Don't disguise your keywords by giving them a font color that matches the background. This old trick used by web designers a long time ago to defy the search engines, but it doesn't work now. Search engines can spot those keywords and will see that you are spamming them.

Writing content to suit website optimization is not easy for some people, but if you keep these 5 points in mind, you will avoid the problems associated with keyword spamming.

Using Blogs as a Free Marketing Tool for Your Business

I admit I stuck my head in the sand when I first heard about Blogs. It was just too hard (so I thought) - another new technology to master and I wasn't even sure of the benefits, so I ignored them for a while.

Then I attended a marketing seminar where a whole session was devoted to Blogs - how simple they were to set up and use and what unbelievable benefits they provided for a business. And the best part - most of them are free!!!!

So what exactly is a blog?
A blog is basically a journal that is available on the web. Updating a blog is often referred to as "blogging" and a person who keeps a blog is a "blogger." Blogs can be updated daily, weekly or monthly.

Why should I use blogs for my business?

1. Communication with your customers. Blogs allow you to have a two way communication with your customers. When you post a message on your blog, your visitors can respond. Staying in touch with your customers helps you to build long-term relationships and earn their trust.

2. Search Engine Marketing
Blogs give you an increased presence on major search engines, like Yahoo! and Google. If you use Blogger, for example (Google's Blogging Tool), every message you post creates a new page on Google so in a very short time you could have a lot of pages pointing to your website, bringing you lots of new visitors.

3. Stay Ahead of Your Competition
Blogs are still relatively new and chances are your competition does not yet use them. So you will be seen as an expert in your industry when you post your knowledge and expertise.

4. Media & Public Relations

Blogs are excellent PR tools. You can post your Media Releases and articles and have them picked up by the media.

5. Free or Low Cost

How do I get started?
Simply sign up for a blogging account. You can find plenty by searching on "Blogging tools" Most blogging websites have lots of useful tips on how to make the most of your blog.

Once you've created a blog and added a message or two, don't forget to put a link to it from your website (if you have one).

What should I do with my blog once it's created? Beside adding regular posts, you should add RSS feed (Really Simple Syndication) to your blog. RSS is a method of distributing links to content in your blog that you'd like others to use. In other words, it's a mechanism to "syndicate" your content. How does RSS syndication work?

Say you publish a new blog posting about a particular topic. You want others interested in that topic to know about it. By listing the page as an "item" in your RSS file, you can have the page appear in front of those who read information using RSS readers or "news aggregators" RSS also allows people to easily add links to your content within their own web pages. Bloggers are a huge core audience that especially does this.
