New Jersey homeowners are proud of their state and take great pride in where they live. However, what most residents of the Garden State don’t know is that thousands of residential properties have buried oil tanks on the premises. In the later part of the 19th century oil tanks were used to heat homes. These tanks were buried in the ground expected to stand the test of time. However, 100 years later these buried oil tanks are deteriorating and leaking into the soil causing costly damages to homeowners. It is in your best interest to call a residential oil tank removal company to perform an inspection, detect any tanks, and safely remove them. Here are four reasons to toss around in your mind as great motivation to pick up your phone and make that all important call.

Oil Tank Inspections can Increase Your Home’s Resale Value

Today’s New Jersey home buyers are savvy and most are well aware of the potential risk of buying a property with a buried oil tank, or worse yet, a leaking oil tank. It is not uncommon for buyer’s to write an oil tank inspection into a purchasing agreement because ignored tanks can rack up thousands of dollars in soil remediation services. If you are going to put your home on the market get ahead of the curve and make your property more appealing by having an oil tank inspection performed with a certificate to prove your buyer is in the green.

Keep Your Land Fertile

One thing New Jersey is known for is having glorious gardens in the spring and summer months. If you have a green thumb and love maintaining a lawn, flower garden or vegetable garden you will definitely want to get an oil tank inspection performed. When tanks leak petroleum and toxic metals into the soil it is possible that your ground will sour and never grow so much as a dandelion. Imagine all your hard work of preparing the soil, planting your crops, tending to the ground, and you have nothing to show for it OR your beautiful produce and flowers die mysteriously leaving dead ground. An oil tank inspection will give you peace of mind knowing that your garden will be amazing every year.

Show Mother Nature Some Love

When you perform oil tank inspection and remove any tanks that may be detected, you are giving Mother Nature a huge hug and a high five. Aside from the obvious of buried oil tanks leaking toxins into the soil, a tank leak can also contaminate groundwater and spread to nearby streams. Not only is this oil tank poisoning the Earth but it is also harming wildlife like deer, birds and woodland creatures. In fact, it can also harm your beloved pets.

Avoid a Legal Mess

According to state and Federal law, homeowners are liable for oil tanks on their property. You can be fined for having an oil tank, even if you had no knowledge of its existence. However, if a homeowner seeks oil tank detection services and removes the tank immediately, chances are likely there will be no legal action. However, if guests on your property are exposed to any toxins and get ill they may wind up suing you. This happens more often than you would think!

You love him because he is yours, and you love his fashionable style and eye for the creative things in life. Many women agree that finding gifts for the men in their lives who appreciate the finer things in life is a much more challenging task than finding a gift for “your average couch potato”. There has been a resurgence in attention to air quality in recent times, though the focus is disproportionately directed at the air outside while the indoor air quality gets neglected. But, if the statistics are to be believed, we spend over 90 percent of our time in closed spaces. Doesn’t it make sense then, to pay as much attention to air quality in homes and workplaces as we do for the outside?

Considering also that, indoor air is in fact, the same as the air outside – with all its pollutants, micro-particles and what not – trapped inside the building where additional air pollutants mix up with the air and are recycled within the house. You’d see just how critical it is to push indoor air quality to the fore of the discussion.

The issue is, the impact of poor indoor air quality can take several years to manifest, except, in situations where there’s an asthmatic patient. They’d quickly get irritated by the micro-particulates and pollutants in the air triggering coughing, sore throat and difficulty in breathing.

The question becomes, are there cost-effective methods to improve the air quality at home and office without spending a fortune doing so? Sure there are, and that’s what this article seeks to explore – 10 useful hacks you can start doing right now to enhance your home’s air quality.

But, before sharing these hacks, let us take a look at the typical sources of indoor air pollution.

Sources of Indoor Air Pollution

Based on the information shared on the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) website, here are some air pollutants in the home:

Radon:

Radon is an odorless, colorless, and tasteless radioactive gas that might get introduced into your house through the ground on which it is built, well water, and the type of building materials used in the construction.

Radon is quite difficult to detect due to its nature, which means one could be inhaling it without knowing and there are no immediate signs to indicate its presence until it’s quite late. Throw in the fact that it has been linked to lung cancer and you’ve got on your hands a hazardous situation.

Action tip: Get the testing kit, thankfully – they’re relatively inexpensive – and run a test in your home. If the radon level is higher than 4 pci/L, then it’s time to bring in a professional to help you.

Environmental Tobacco Smoke:

The lingering tobacco smoke long after the cigarette, cigar, or pipe goes out is known as environmental tobacco smoke. Inhaling this smoke poses the same risk to you just as smoking does to the smoker.

The health hazards of tobacco smoking are well documented, ailments ranging from lung cancer, heart diseases, eyes, noses, throat and lung irritations are associated with this lifestyle.

Action tip:  Environmental tobacco smoke is one of the air pollutants that are easily detected. A simple way of avoiding this pollutant is to make your home smoke free.

Household cleaning products:

These cleaning products also called volatile organic compounds are used in several household maintenance products such as cleaning supplies, and they are also found in paints, permanent markers, and photocopiers.

Some of their effects may include dizziness and feeling of nausea, throat, eyes, and nose irritations. For extended exposure could negatively impact the central nervous system.

Pesticides:

These chemicals are indeed toxic to the body, and in the bid to kill off several of the household pests, we inadvertently release pollutants into our homes. To avoid the severe health implications of inhaling pesticides, one is advised to ensure there’s no one at one when using it and immediately you get back inside to throw open the windows and let in fresh air.

The inhalation of pesticides has been linked with an increased risk of cancer in addition to the irritation of the eyes, nose, and throat.

Other indoor air contaminants include asbestos, chemicals like formaldehyde, respirable particles – these are tiny particles that are easily inhaled without us noticing, smokes and CO from stoves, fireplace, etc. and lead in coatings and paints.

Signs of Air Pollution in the house

Here are tell-tale signs that indicate the presence of air pollutants in the home and some of them include:

  • Coughing, frequent sneezing when at home: this is a sure proof sign of a poor indoor air quality. It could be an indication of the presence of irritants such as pollens, particles, and micro-organisms like fungi in the air.
  • Waking up with a congested nose or a slight headache
  • A runny nose, watery eyes and sore throats are all symptoms of a poor air quality.
  • Severe and long-term effects such as asthma and bronchitis are other signs of prolonged exposure to air contaminants.
  • hacks to maintaining a high-quality indoor air
  1. Throw open the windows: Very simple, easy to follow trick. It does not cost a dime to open your windows especially during the warm seasons and let in fresh air.

What this action does is to create a bit of draft in the house, forcing stale damp air out. Waste such as carbon dioxide from biological activities are let out; the improved ventilation also helps to combat dampness thereby preventing the growth of micro-organisms like molds and fungi in the house.

  1. Place Air Purifying plants in your house: Plants not only serve for aesthetic purposes, but they also act as air purifiers in the home. According to research conducted by NASA in 80’s, they discovered that some plants thrive in closed spaces while also removing toxic elements such as Volatile Organic Compounds from the air.

Placing some of these plants in your home will go a long way in enhancing the air quality. Some of the crops include

o    Aloe Vera: This versatile plant is my favorite. Not only does it add a little touch of green to the interiors of my home, but it’s also easy to grow, and its succulent parts are used to treat some skin maladies.

Aloe Vera is useful for removing Benzene and Formaldehyde from the air.

o    Spider plant: used this plant to remove carbon monoxide, xylene, formaldehyde and benzene from your home. Installing it closer to the fireplace or likely sources of carbon monoxide in the house is a good idea.

If you’re worried about caring for the plant, you shouldn’t be since it requires little care to grow.

o    Chinese Evergreens: this variegated plant removes some air pollutants from the air. And it needs low maintenance to thrive.

o    Snake plant: Effective in taking out formaldehyde from the air, and it’s one of the great plants you can place in the bathroom.

Other plants you can use to enhance your indoor air quality include the English Ivy, Golden Pothos also called Devil’s ivy, Peace lily, Reed palm or Bamboo palm, heartleaf philodendron, Selleoum Philodendron, Red-edged dracaena, Cornstalk dracaena, and Warneck dracaena.

It is essential to keep in mind that plants do not remove dust and smoke from the air hence a combination with other air purifying products or methods is recommended.

  1. Switch to non-toxic cleaning products: Household cleaning products are easily some of the common contaminants in the house. Organic products such as baking soda, vinegar, and hydrogen peroxide are recommended as a replacement for those commercial air fresheners, scents, and aerosols.

Switching to VOC-free cleaners significantly cuts down on the core indoor air pollutants hence helping you improve your home air quality.

  1. Maintain a moderate humidity level in the house: Molds, fungi, and bacteria thrive in high humidity environment. So to ensure they don’t find your home conducive, maintain the humidity level between 30 percent – 50 percent.

Also, you can use an appropriate dehumidifier to keep the indoor moisture level moderate.

  1. Vacuum your home regularly: Regular vacuuming removes dust and dirt lodged in the carpets, furniture, and on any other surface in the house. This is one of the easiest means of controlling the amount of dust and particles in the air.
  2. Forbid the use of tobacco inside the house: Tobacco use accounts for about 30 percent of indoor air pollution, to eliminate this harmful pollutant simply ban smoking inside the house.
  3. Avoid storing adhesives, paints and other chemicals in your house: these chemicals have strong pervasive odor that degrades the quality of air in your home. If you must store them, I recommend stowing them away in outside stores and they should be tightly covered.
  4. Avoid using nail polish inside the house: Most manicure and pedicure products have a persisting odor that lingers even when after several hours of using them.
  5. Ensure your furnace filters are in perfect working condition: if you have a fireplace or furnace in your home, it is essential to run a check on your furnace filter to ensure it is not leaking out harmful gas like carbon monoxide without you knowing.
  6. Clean and leave your shoes at the front door: Now, this hack is indeed a common sense approach to keeping air pollutants out of your home. Most times, we carry pollens, animal dander, feces, and other allergens unknowingly into the house.

So, keep the shoes outside, and wear only the indoor shoes when inside the house.

In Conclusion

Understand that the quality of your indoor air is your responsibility; there are severe health implications of extended exposure to poor air which could be permanent. Hence, I hope that this list of hacks will guide you to enhancing the air quality of your home.

Every family changes over time. It changes in number and maturity of its family members. At first, you usually have two people. The two people have children and the children go through different phases as they grow up. Some of us had their parents move in, others had their nephews in to be closer to a university.

The economy we live in today does not allow for families with a lot of children to live in mansions. These are all reasons why we need to find creative ways of fitting in a growing number of people of all ages in the same amount of space and shuffle them around as the “demographics” change.

Build an extension

Building an extension or extensions is your first and most obvious way of accommodating extra family members. If you own a house with a backyard, you can even build a separate unit. You can use it as an apartment for elderly family members or your adolescent children. This will give them some privacy, yet, they will still be under your supervision.

If the size of your backyard does not allow this, or you prefer to have that space for your family outdoor activities, look for another extension possibility. Can you build one above your garage or anywhere on the ground floor so it actually makes sense?

An extension is a perfect way to preserve or improve the level of comfort each of your family members initially had. Since you are already spending money on this, make sure you do it properly. The entrance to the new room should be from the backyard or from a hallway of your house, not through someone else’s room or a bathroom.

Re-purpose rooms

Bedrooms are what we are mostly short on, followed by the frequently used shared areas. Use rooms in your house which do not serve either of these purposes and remodel them. Attics and basements are mostly used as storage, a laundry room or a closet are not a necessity as such. Even a garage, if you are really short on space, can be used to accommodate an extra tenant. Alternatively, you can use it for both your car and a storage room and free up space in your basement. Speaking of the basement, it is a perfect apartment for your teenage children or a playroom.

However, due to, what usually is a great number of stairs, and a small amount of daylight, it may be slightly inconvenient for elderly people and toddlers. An Attic can pretty much serve any purpose and it can be remodeled beautifully into a bedroom, a study or a playroom. Also, some people have decided to use small spaces such as walk-in closets as nurseries or, depending on the size, small bedrooms for children or home offices. They are perfect because they are close enough, yet separate from other areas.

Watch the scale and the style

If you do not have financial or practical possibility of re-purposing rooms or building extensions, particularly if you live in an apartment, the first thing you need to pay attention to is the scale of your furniture and your lifestyle. Choose to live a minimalistic life.

Decluttering your space and having fewer pieces of furniture will help you free-up significant areas of the surface. Keep only the practical pieces and the ones you really use and need.  As an addition to the minimalism, you should choose to have small-scale furniture. This basically means that your furniture should be small and light. Forget about fluffy armrests and heavy wooden pieces.

Think vertical, go up, not in

You can walk on floors, yet you cannot walk on walls. This means that whatever takes up the floor space disturbs the traffic through your home. However, if you choose to go up, and take up the surface of your walls, it will not be in your way. Keep out of the center of a room. Use the corners and walls, to leave the middle free.

Bunk beds are some of the most commonly used examples of this. Instead of fitting in two beds in the square footage of your room, choose to put them one on top of another to save space. This is very convenient for children who share rooms. They may not see the practicality of this, but they will find the beds entertaining. If you know that neither one of your children will want to be on the top bed, opt for a safer solution and use a bed with a drawer for a mattress and have a pull-out bed.

Build custom furniture

Custom furniture and built-in furniture is the safest way to make sure that every bit of space is used. Use only the size you actually need. You can make custom beds and thus make them shorter and less space-consuming. More importantly, you can fill and use the bits of space you normally would not be able to. Close off any strange corners or indents in a room and create a closet. Turn a niche into a study area, a bed or a dining room.

If you use it as a dining room, you can make banquette benches with a lift-up top and use them as storage space. Some people have been really creative while making the furniture and have made queen-size bunk beds, bunk beds on three levels or pyramidal bunk beds to fit 5 people. My personal favorites are all-in-ones, usually used for children, where you have a bunk bed with drawers and a desk stashed below in place of the bottom bed.

Use storage wisely

Having to live the minimalistic lifestyle and convert closets into nurseries means that you will have less storage space. Quite inconveniently, the more people you have in a home, the more things they will have. This is why you need to squeeze in whatever you can wherever you can. Some of the ways to do this elegantly such as using every corner to build a closet or using banquette benches have already been mentioned above. You can use open-storage and hang your clothes on a rack in your bedroom.

Use a lot of hanging shelves and cabinets as they will help you fit in a lot of your belongings on a wall. If you are worried about certain items being exposed, purchase or make decorative baskets or boxes and put them up on your shelves. This way you can hide away socks and underwear as well as tiny things such as makeup and toiletries without worrying that they will get all over the place.

Create an under-bed dresser by adding shelves to the base of your bed. Build suspended shelves right above your bar and use them to separate your kitchen from the dining room area. Some have even used wardrobes and cabinets to make walls between rooms and thus make smart use of the space as well as create two or more separate areas out of one big room. If you decide to do this, you need to be careful as it may be poorly sound-proofed.

Keep your furniture out of sight

Certain pieces of furniture are necessary yet not used all the time. Hide your furniture within the walls of your house. You can easily do this with desks and tables as well as beds. Use foldable furniture in your dining room and set it up only when you need it, in the meantime, it will be out of your way. This is your best bet to fit a full-sized dining table into your kitchen. Apart from these solutions, you can also use pull-out couches to turn your living room into a master bedroom.

Use perspective and pretend

If you have finally managed to create space for everyone, use tricks to make your home look more spacious. First of all, make sure that it is not stuffy. Temper Troops Air Conditioning Sunshine Coast-based company say that the ecological systems now available cannot only cool and heat but also make your air fresh at all times which is particularly important when there are a lot of people sharing confined space.

The new ecological systems are energy-efficient and they will save you money and keep the home aired. Apart from the air-quality and smells, you need to work on visuals. Try to keep the areas you can, as tidy as you can. Also, this may be a good time to teach your children to put their toys away.

Another tip to keep your home visually bigger is to use light colors, they will help you open up space. Instead of large paintings, hang large mirrors, they will create an illusion of space. Be very careful when you accentuate certain features in your home not to limit the space visually.

Not having to worry about space is everyone’s preference. However, sharing tight space brings a family together. It teaches your children how to function well in a team, to share, be responsible and creative. Occasionally it will drive you mad, but more frequently it will help you stay close.

In the past, the issue of the illumination of your home was believed to be something completely arbitrary, something that has to deal with aesthetics more than anything else. Still, this was before we knew about all the effects of light on one’s mood, energy levels, and even productivity.

The latter one is particularly important for people who are working at home and, let’s be honest, in 2017, almost everyone brings their work home.

This is mostly due to the fact that light affects alertness and improves one’s ability to focus. Furthermore, staring at the screen with bad light in the background is definitely not doing your vision any favors. Needless to say, those who work full-time from home usually have a preference for the night-work, which makes the issue of adequate lighting into an even greater paramount.

Furthermore, the access of daylight to your home is also something worth paying attention to, seeing as how natural light is absolutely vital for the mental health of all inhabitants. Apart from this, the ability to maintain the illumination in your home at a high enough level with the use of natural light may drastically impact your utility bill over the course of time.

This being said, you need to pull off all of the above-mentioned with the overall décor of your household in mind. So, with this in mind and without further ado, here are few décor tips used by professional designers.

1.      Start from the natural light

The first thing that needs to be addressed here is the issue of natural light. Apart from being free and great for your health, natural light has one significant downside. Namely, you can’t control it.

Still, there is a solution to every problem. If the light is too bright, simply use curtains or blinders to dim it down. On the other hand, if you feel as if it isn’t strong enough, you can try rearranging your furniture to face your windows or remove any non-supporting pillars or walls inside of your home. This last part is one of the reasons why open floor design is getting more and more popular with each passing day.

What you probably didn’t know is that it’s possible to introduce natural light even in completely windowless rooms. Here, you need to be extra crafty and use items like mirrors, French doors, and frosted light. Apart from this, painting the room white, or choosing a different highly-reflective color also may be a great idea.

For those who are interested in creating a natural light-like atmosphere but aren’t necessarily focused on the eco-friendly aspect of natural light, you can achieve this effect with hidden lights. A similar effect can also be achieved with the use of undercabinet lighting.

Needless to say, when it comes to working from home and using the natural light to your benefit in this respect, it all comes down to the choice of the room. First, you need to know your own work habits and choose the room accordingly. For instance, if you prefer working in the morning, you should pick the room facing the east. On the other hand, those who prefer to work in the later afternoon, might find it better to choose the room facing the west and so on.

2.      Let’s talk numbers

The first thing you should have in mind here is the functionality of your household. Here, the different rooms require different intensity of light. In a scenario where you depend exclusively on the artificial illumination, you need about 20 lumens per square foot. For the sake of comparison, a standard incandescent bulb that is 40 W strong, can create an illumination of about 600 lm.

When it comes to tables and raised surfaces, for instance, when it comes to the dining table, you need about 30 lm per square foot. This is most commonly solved with the help of a nice low-hanging chandelier. Seeing as how this will help you bring your light source closer to the functional area, you will be able to spend less energy in order to provide the same visibility.

Finally, and most importantly, when it comes to working surfaces, places where you need the optimal visibility, you will have to provide the intensity of 50 lm per square foot. We are talking about the desk in your home office, the mirror in your bathroom or the reading nook in your living room.

Of course, this is just the iceberg, seeing as how there are other factors that you need to take into consideration. For instance, the taller the ceiling is the stronger the bulbs will have to be in order to provide the satisfactory level of light. Furthermore, if you have any supporting pillars inside of the room (something we addressed earlier), this might further complicate the situation, seeing as how it will create blind spots inside of a room. Luckily, this can be elegantly solved with a nice tall lamp at a strategic location.

3.      LED or Incandescent

The next thing you need to choose on is the type of bulbs you are going to use. If you are interested in saving money on bulbs, you should definitely go with LED over incandescent and here are a few reasons why.

First of all, LED has a much more favorable watt-to-lumens ration. The above-discussed 600 lm, which can be achieved with the use of a 40 W incandescent bulb could also be produced with a 10 W LED one.

Apart from this, a LED bulb lasts significantly longer. A standard incandescent bulb lasts somewhere between 1,000 and 2,000 hours while its LED counterparts last anywhere from 25,000 to 50,000 hours. This is a great saving not just in the cost of the bulbs, which you will have to purchase much less often but also in effort, seeing as how you won’t have to replace them anytime soon.

As for the aesthetics, there isn’t really any significant difference, due to the fact that LED can do anything that an incandescent bulb can. For instance, LED lighting experts from Azoogi work with anything from industrial lighting to pool lights and LED strips. In other words, you get to keep the privilege of the full customization of your home’s lighting system and to do something great for the environment while you’re at it.

4.      Choose an adequate task light

To get back to the issue of working from home, once you start furnishing your work area, the most important choice (light-wise), will be the one regarding the task light. Here, you have several factors to consider but seeing as how this fixture will be your companion during many sleepless nights, make sure to choose wisely.

The first thing that crosses one’s mind is the choice of style and here, you should probably choose something that goes great with your desk and your room in general. For instance, you don’t want to get a Sci-Fi-like LED task light for your vintage desk or go the other way around.

Next, you should pay attention to the specifics of your industry. Here, you need to think about your job and the specifics of your work. For example, whether you will stare at the screen all the time or you might encounter some documents in the written form. Additionally, you may work with something that includes small parts (even if this on-desk activity is only something you do for a hobby). The latter requires even stronger illumination.

At the end, you also need to take your age into consideration. One study claims that people in their 60s see about 8 time worse than when they were in their 20s. In other words, the older you get, the more light you will need.

5.      A few other options

Finally, there are also a few other options you might want to consider for your home office. An ambient or a corrective light can be just perfect for someone who spends their nights staring at the screen. This is particularly convenient for those whose desk isn’t right next to the window. Furthermore, going with an overhead fixture like a pendant lighting might be a much less invasive solution to the lighting problem. This, however, is best-suited for those who don’t require much light.

In conclusion

At the end of the day, the issue of light is definitely the most important one regarding your work-space and even the layout of your entire home. Here, however, all depends on your personal habits and preferences. Some people enjoy ambiance lighting, while others like to illuminate their prized possessions and collections, while leaving the rest of the space, more or less, in dark.

Luckily, alterations to your lighting system are not difficult or expensive to make, which means that you can easily remedy even the decisions you later come to regret. The greatest problem that a bad decision can cause is a temporary drop in productivity, which, nonetheless, is still a serious thing. This is exactly why an issue of your household’s light deserves your full and undivided attention.

Millions of daily users flock to social networks to connect with each other and their favorite brands. Many companies have taken advantage of this phenomenon to build large followings and high-profile success stories. Correspondingly, a large number of brands have created social media with lofty expectations only to fail.

Although this may be true, you can successfully use social media to attract followers who may eventually become customers. However, doing so requires a substantial investment in terms of time and effort. Furthermore, keeping and growing your social media following requires discipline, patience and hard work.

Many companies have achieved high-profile success on social media and you can do the same. Here are five tips that will help you grow your audience and make them stay for the long term.

Have a Content Marketing Strategy

Every piece of content you publish on social media should follow a consistent theme. Such a tactic can fuel a successful content marketing strategy that will attract new visitors and followers who have interests that relate to your brand.

For starters, plan a schedule for publishing content and stick to it. Although your content shouldn’t directly pitch sales, it should naturally position your brand as the solution to the problems, needs and desires the people in your audience face.

When you train your readers to anticipate the next iteration of your series of articles, they will regularly visit your social media profiles to stay up-to-date. However, you must provide high-quality, relevant content if you expect to retain your following.

Your content marketing strategy should also involve formatting. In fact, it should begin with a mobile-first attitude. After all, more than three-quarters of all social media traffic comes from mobile users. This means that everything you publish needs to quickly load on mobile and display properly on small screens such as smartphones.

For one thing, content that doesn’t look good on mobile devices creates a poor impression of your brand. Moreover, it communicates a lack of competence and professionalism when you post material to social media that people cannot view. With this in mind, you should never consider a job complete until you have tested it on one or more mobile platforms.

Provide Benefit

As you work on your content marketing strategy, remember to address problems and needs more than you promote your products. Supplying content with value to the social media community will help you establish yourself and your brand as industry leaders.

Exhibit the expertise of your firm by educating people about the issues that involve your industry and market. When people know that they can turn to your brand to learn how to solve problems and improve their lives, they will spread the word of your expertise, giving you an ever-expanding audience.

After all, when people recognize your leadership, that authority will transfer to everything you sell. Of course, you should always make sure that people know you’re there to help them regardless of whether they decide to buy from you.

Of course, you always want to make sure your social media content is easy to understand and share. Still, when people get ready to buy, they often will want to get in-depth product specifications and other information. In this case, you need to make sure you have a website that supplies the additional value that is necessary to convert sales. Also, make sure you have high-visibility links on your social media profiles and within your content that people can use to easily visit your site.

To keep your audience energized and returning to your social media profile, get in the habit of periodically hosting contests where your followers can win valuable prizes. No one will want to miss such opportunities, so they’ll visit you often and, hopefully, become loyal customers.

Connect With Your Audience

When people log into their favorite social networks, they expect to socialize. Don’t disappoint them. Show the humanity of your brand by sharing links and other content with your followers, even when the material is not directly related with your brand.

Additionally, follow your customers and share and repost their content. Whenever possible, inject non-offensive humor into your social media effort. When you become part of the community, you connect with people on a personal and emotional level.

As you connect with your audience and consistently engage them, you demonstrate that your business values people more than profits. As you interact, share valuable information that solves their problems and improves their lives and careers. When the time comes when your followers need the type of products and services that you sell, they will naturally spend their money with you.

Building connections with the people in your audience requires sincerity on your part if you will ever get to know your followers. As part of your effort, make sure that you address people by their real name and reflect their style of speech as you communicate. Your goal is to form bonds that will lead to lifelong, mutually beneficial relationships.

Another important way to attract longtime followers is to avoid generic responses. Always directly address every question, concern or comment. Also, show empathy. When people see that you understand their emotions and feel their pain, they will begin to regard you and your firm as a partner and friend rather than as a business.

Remember that relationships are dynamic, not static. To put it another way: never stop after your first engagement with a follower. Instead, re-engage them by following up with them to determine their level of satisfaction and to discover what new circumstances they face. Such opportunities can give you new opportunities to reintroduce your brand to them from a new perspective.

Ask for Feedback

Buyers often trust the opinions and experiences of other buyers more than they trust your brand’s marketing messages. For this reason, online reviews can make a big difference to your bottom line.

Of course, many customers don’t instinctively leave feedback about their experience with your firm, especially if they are completely satisfied. Consequently, you might discover that you receive a disproportionate number of negative reviews. However, there are some things you can do to change that.

Simply by asking your customers to provide feedback about their experience, you can dramatically increase the number of positive reviews left for your brand. Of course, when you ask, never stipulate the nature of the feedback that you want your customers to leave.

Encourage everyone to leave honest assessments of the products and services they have received along with their recommendations for future prospective customers. Consequently, you can expect to grow and retain your social media following by having a large volume of customer-generated feedback on your social media pages.

You will inevitably receive some negative reviews as well, and it’s necessary to know how to deal with them. Express your appreciation and promise to use the provided information to improve your operation. When you follow through on such promises, you inspire loyalty by demonstrating how much you value your customers and their opinions.

Never limit the scope of the feedback to purchases. Instead, encourage your followers to suggest improvements to your product line. Also, you can ask for input regarding possible marketing strategies. If you develop your own products, you can use your social media followers as beta testers who can give you vital feedback that can help you satisfy the real-world needs and expectations of the marketplace.

Excel at Customer Service

Businesses that deliver outstanding customer service achieve a competitive edge that can lead to increased customer satisfaction and long-term growth. Still, companies suffer because they fail to give customer service a high priority. You shouldn’t let that happen to you.

As a matter of fact, social media offers a fantastic venue for your customer service strategy. After all, prospects and customers generally enjoy the ability to communicate with their favorite brands while logged onto their favorite platform. For that reason alone, you can attract many followers.

Part of customer service is responding to every message left for your company. This means that you should promptly answer every question and address every issue. As your audience recognizes your responsiveness, they will notice that your brand is different from many others.

While providing customer service online, professionalism is key. You always need to treat your followers with respect and stay calm, even when people say bad things about you, your products or your business. By demonstrating that you are always available to provide exemplary service, you will build and retain a social media following that will value your brand.

Make consistency part of your customer service strategy. For example, ensure that you and your team follow a routine schedule, so people know when they can communicate with you. Similarly, create an editorial calendar so that people can depend on finding new information on your social media on particular days or at certain times during the day.

Final Thoughts

In conclusion, the benefits of social media can give you an edge over your competitors and set the stage for long-term growth and profitability. By taking deliberate measures such as those described above, you can improve your chance of success.

In fact, simply by starting with a well-defined content marketing strategy, you can achieve much. At the same time, the time you spend executing that strategy will help you get to know your audience and put them on a path toward conversion.

With the first signs of industrialization, nature became the victim of advancements and improvements which led to modern life as we know it today. And subsequently, the whole world started to deteriorate and now we stand in front of a major global climate catastrophe, one which has already begun to unfold and can only be stopped if we all work together. Due to the ever-present pollution, as well as man-made structures such as roads and factories, the natural habitats of many animals and plants have been destroyed.

For example, one of the most pressing and highlighted issues has been the extinction of bees, and most notably the constant annual decline of their numbers since the colony collapse disorder in 2007 in the US alone. Also, wild bees are in more danger since 1945 and urbanization when 97% of meadows were transformed in the UK and of 24 species of bumblebees, only eight stayed strong. The global condition of the bumblebees is also not great and the IUCN considers them to be at risk of extinction.

Just like bees, there is other wildlife important to preserving our environment and saving life on Earth. And the most interesting thing about it is that we can all participate in this significant and important endeavour by just being responsible gardeners.

Deciding on the right flowers

When it comes to creating a wildlife haven, you have to carefully choose the flower species you’re going to plant. Some experts suggest planting only the specious indigenous to your region and even neighbourhood, since that will attract the insects unique to that terrain.

Plants that provide pollen and nectar are the ones that will attract natural pollinators like bees and butterflies and keep the circle of life going. It is important to know your plants and make sure that the ones you use actually attract pollinators and don’t only serve as breeding grounds for the insects.

When you decide upon the flower, examine the number of petals. The more petals they have the less nectar and pollen they will provide. Marigolds, cornflowers and nasturtiums are okay to grow, as are the usual perennials. But if you have trouble recognizing the appropriate flower species, consult the local gardeners’ association or nature preservation society. They may also have some useful pointers and advice on creating a wildlife-friendly garden.

Choose the variety of trees

Trees are homes for a variety of wildlife species. They offer perfect shelter and nesting places, as well as fruits, seeds and flowers to feed all sorts of animals. If you have an old tree in your garden or neighbourhood, make sure that it’s well taken care of and always protected from diseases and damage.

On the other hand, a lack of trees is not good for the wildlife even if you have lavish gardens since it will miss the protection and resting place of the treetop and trunk, so make sure you plant some seedlings wherever you can. Also, fruit trees are especially beneficial to the ecosystem since they feed not only the animals but also supply you with crops.

Try the shrubs

Edible shrubs like gooseberry, redcurrant and blackberry are the perfect choices for wildlife-friendly gardens. These plants are the perfect food for the pollinators and will give texture to the garden’s look, not to mention that they are great for pies and healthy snacks.

Small tree-like shrubs, like rowan, blackthorn and hawthorn are also good for both blossoms and berries, and are considered to be not only a significant source of nutrition but also give cover to insects and other larger animals. Even flowery shrubs, ivy and bushes are good as habitats if you keep them in shape and don’t let them take over your garden.

Create a pond

Take a shovel and dig a hole. Then put a pot or basin inside and fill it with water. This will add a pond to your garden and also be a great environment for amphibians and fish. Make sure you design an area that is shallow since newts and frogs need lower water levels. And also create a path for the animals to get in and out of the pond more easily.

Water plants will keep the water clean and allow for even more wildlife to inhabit your garden. The most obvious benefit of the pond, however, is that it will be a water source, so make sure you build it in a partly shaded spot so the water doesn’t get too heated by the sun.

Guard the birds

There is something magical in birdsong in the spring mornings and their chatter during the day. But even though they fly, birds need protection from predators and harsh weather. Build feeders and boxes for them, and make sure that they always have food and a clean place to stay.

You can build the feeders near bushes like the rambling rose, which will allow the small birds to feed safely away from cats. Also, choosing the proper food such as seeds in the winter and fat balls for the younglings in spring will help you keep the bird population strong and thriving even during periods when natural food for birds is scarce.

Let nature take over your lawn

Lawns are the most popular form of gardening there is and a neatly mowed lawn can say a lot about a house but can do little for wildlife preservation and saving the environment. So try some great landscape design ideas for turning your lawn into a meadow and thus creating the perfect home for a variety of species.

Leave your grass to grow since the long plants are perfect places for butterflies to lay their eggs. Scatter the seeds of various wildflowers such as poppies, corn marigolds, buttercups and ragged robin, as well as grasses like yellow rattle all over the lawn and create your own meadowland.

Weeds matter

When someone mentions weeds, we automatically think it is bad for the garden because those plants are parasitic and destroy the soil for others. But actually, there are certain plants categorized as weeds which are natural pollinators, like buttercups and daisies.

These plants are rich in nectar and can withstand harsh environments, and you can usually see them on the big park lawns and meadows. You probably weaved a wreath out of them when you were a kid and didn’t know how important they were. So let your garden be a little messy and it will become the perfect shelter for the spiders and earwigs which feed on the plant lice and keep their numbers in check.

Finally

John Muir or John of the Mountains, a Scottish-American naturalist said: “When one tugs at a single thing in nature, he finds it attached to the rest of the world.” This is something we all should bear in mind when we look at the green valleys and admire the wildflowers, or when we enjoy birdsong and a butterfly’s flight.

We can all follow the example of the Netherlands which has around 25 wildlife-friendly gardens and also one of the biggest and oldest ones in the world, the Thijsse’s Hof dating to 1925 and being home to more than 800 plants and animals.

This is the perfect example that if we put our effort into something, we can achieve important and huge things, which can change life on Earth for the better for all species, not only humans.

Air quality has been a hot button issue recently, with substantial news coverage on both sides of the Atlantic. In the UK, EU observers have chastised the government for not acting to reduce air pollution, citing the effects of diesel cars. In the US meanwhile, a spate of wildfires has led to numerous articles on the health impact of smoke and ash.

What few people realise is that air pollution is not just a risk outdoors – it can also affect indoor spaces. Buildings which lack air filtration systems, are poorly maintained, or have poor airflow can actually have worse quality air than a busy street. Knowing the risks and taking an active role in mitigating them can improve employee health, and contribute to increased productivity.

Pollution

The impact of air pollution outdoors has been well established. Microscopic particulates from vehicle emissions, woodburners, industrial sites and other human activity can irritate the lungs and nasal passages, with the potential to cause permanent scarring and damage.

Many of us don’t think about air pollution at all – we go for runs alongside busy roads, and do DIY without facemasks. This goes double for indoor air pollution. We either imagine that there are no pollutants because we can’t see them, or assume that buildings exist in their own little bubble with specially filtered air. In reality, the same air that’s outdoors is often being funnelled into and trapped inside buildings, which can also add their own pollutants to the mix.

Depending on the source, air pollution can cause serious damage to the lungs, causing irritation, scarring and even cancer in the long term. Studies meanwhile have shown that air pollution can have a substantial effect on cognition and respiration, reducing your productivity at work. Given that an estimated 90% of a business’ building costs are people and their salaries – and that we spend 90% of our time in cities indoors – improving efficiency through worker health should be a high priority for employees and business owners.

What you can do about it:

Air quality meters have become less expensive, and basic tests can be carried out without training. You may still wish to employ a trained health & safety professional to take regular readings in your workplace, however. This is particularly true if you suspect there is a serious or persistent issue, or cannot find the source of a pollution problem.

If an air quality problem is identified, a common source is your HVAC system. Proper, regular and comprehensive maintenance is key to ensure filters are clean, and that spores or other contaminants are not simply being recycled into the air. Ultraviolet light solutions can be employed to avoid chemical cleaning, which is often an air pollutant in itself.

Businesses should also assess their contribution to what’s known as volatile organic compounds, or VOC. These are compounds that can exist as either a liquid or gas at room temperature, thereby evaporating and getting into the air. They could originate from anything that uses or releases chemicals and other waste products, or relies on chemical reactions.

VOCs include compounds that contribute to smog and ozone depletion, and will decrease the air quality in and around your business. There are any number of ways to reduce the VOCs you generate, and make your business greener in the process. These might include:

  • Reducing transit/vehicle miles
  • Changing your manufacturing process
  • Investing in energy efficient equipment
  • Change air fresheners, such as those used in bathrooms

Asbestos

Asbestos is often seen as an antiquated risk, and a factor that is easily controlled in older buildings. But asbestos was only banned from building materials in 2000 in the UK, and is still legal to use in the United States, although no new uses for asbestos are allowed. While most construction companies will now seek safer alternatives, there are some usage scenarios in which asbestos is still regularly deployed.

Asbestos is also present in more items than you might think. As well as littering brownfield sites, asbestos is also often present in wall and boiler insulation, wall and floor tiles, ceiling tiles and decorations, pipes, bitumen based materials, window panels and more. There are also a number of older household items which can contain asbestos, including ironing boards and even toilet fixtures.

Asbestos is broadly safe in its dry form. But it can also be susceptible to damage, which can quickly release thousands of microscopic fibres. Many businesses with asbestos in their properties do not have an actively enforced and updated asbestos plan, and are unwilling to undertake asbestos removal, which can be expensive and can easily shut down a building.

Like air pollution, there is no safe quantity of asbestos fibres in the air. The risk only increases with the quantity, as asbestos fibres cause severe irritation and damage in the deepest parts of our lungs. This can lead to the deadly cancer mesothelioma and the lung condition asbestosis, with the full extent of the damage not being apparent for as much as 30 to 40 years.

What you can do about it:

The UK’s Health & Safety Executive works on a ‘presumption of asbestos’ rule – that is, if you don’t know whether materials on your site contain asbestos, assume that they do. For legal purposes, small businesses may create an asbestos register based on their own observations. However, the only way to be sure (and safe!) is to hire a certified asbestos surveyor.

Once you know where any asbestos is and what condition it’s in, you can put together an asbestos management plan. This should include:

  • Your asbestos register
  • Designating a responsible person (often the facilities or building manager)
  • Priorities for addressing asbestos management
  • Any plans for asbestos removal or containment
  • A surveyance and maintenance schedule

In the short term, you should look to train employees through UKATA certified online asbestos courses, or equivalent classroom training. Once you have an understanding of the issues, you can begin to address any potential exposure issues relating to the asbestos.

If it is present in a storage cupboard or cloakroom, for instance, consider taking these areas out of use. If there has been asbestos contamination in an area, it may be necessary to temporarily close the area or the building, in order for removal works to take place.

Where work does take place, ensure that it follows best practice for asbestos removal. Make sure that all workers have properly fitted and high spec respiratory protective equipment (RPE), dampen the dust where possible, and extract dust with special equipment – never, ever sweep or hoover. Affected rooms (and perhaps even the whole facility) will also have to remain out of general use for the duration – a good chance to give your employees some valuable home working time.

Dust and spores

Dust may seem to be a concern for allergy sufferers, requiring little more than the occasional zip round with a cloth and a hoover. But dust resulting from construction, repairs or other manual work can be a serious hazard, and one that is not always appreciated or controlled for.

Dust byproducts from various metals and woods are known as respirable crystalline silica (RCS). These small dust particles are jagged, causing damage to the lung lining when breathed in. The safe level of RCS in the UK is double the legal requirement in the United States. Yet even this is breached regularly, with many construction workers either not being given or not using correct RPE.

Regular dust in the average office space is not a major risk to human health, but it can have an adverse effect on employees, particularly those with breathing or nasal problems. Mould spores from damp areas, such as around windows, can cause similar issues. In the most serious cases, mould can cause individuals with compromised immune systems to develop serious lung infections.

What you can do about it:

Your average office-borne dust can be taken care of with a cloth and a vacuum cleaner, although cleaning fluids should be used sparingly. But RCS resulting from building works or repairs should be vacuumed with specialist equipment, similar to asbestos. Likewise, all workers should have adequate RPE, and the surrounding area should not remain in use, even if it is an important thoroughfare.

There are numerous ways to avoid creating construction dust in the first place. These might include changing the method of cutting, drilling, sawing etc to minimise harmful byproducts. Alternatively, it may be possible to avoid this process altogether by buying ready-prepared materials. There are also materials available which do not contain RCS, including a number of durable plastics.

The best way to prevent mould is to regulate the atmosphere inside your building. Dehumidifiers and air conditioning can reduce the humidity, and remove the moisture on which mould and pathogens thrive. And for a tried and tested tactic to improve air quality, bring some potted plants into the office. Just make sure they aren’t overwatered, as this can ramp up the humidity.

For the most part, improving the quality of air in your premises comes down to common sense. The biggest obstacle is simply ensuring that air quality is taken seriously, and that preventative practices are taken up throughout your organisation. Once the risks and issues are established and explained, keeping your air quality high – and employees healthy – should be a breeze.

Moving can be boring, time-consuming and pretty stressful, but planning ahead can ease up the whole process. Before you start doing anything, walk through your home and think about all tasks you should complete during the moving day. Make sure to prepare yourself for some packing, cleaning and heavy lifting, but don’t stop there.

Moving can be very bad for the environment so you may try to do it in an eco-friendly fashion. There are thousands of families that will move the same day as you and you shouldn’t participate in pollution. Below are some useful tips on how to move successfully and eco-friendly.

What is a carbon footprint?

Before you start planning and executing the move to the new home, it is crucial to get well informed about the story behind a term “carbon footprint“. Every individual, company, product, and piece of real estate property has it’s own carbon footprint. It represents a sum of all greenhouse gas emissions that are released by a person or an object.

It is not always easy to calculate it since there are plenty of factors causing it. Fortunately, you don’t have to calculate your impact on the planet, it will be enough to just do the following „4Rs“ on regular basis: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Refuse.

Whatever you do and wherever you go, there is a healthy, green alternative to the traditional way. You may start reducing your carbon footprint by driving the low carbon vehicle. If you really want to help to save the planet, start riding a bike, and more people will follow your example.

If possible, don’t ever buy your own car, but use public transport. Sharing the vehicle with a lot of people will certainly decrease the levels of carbon emission. Next, when you need to travel somewhere far, you should go with a plane. Just make sure to take economy class tickets. This option is much better than flying with a private jet.

Make a detailed plan

If you aim for the sustainable and economical way of moving to a new house, you’ll need to sit down and plan ahead every single step. Your priority should be using biodegradable materials as much as you possibly can and find a way to move quickly and lightly. Because of that, do a preliminary assessment of all your resources which are crucial for an efficient and successful move. Try to avoid spending a ton of cash for this purpose.

Go around the house and look for stuff that can ease the whole process. Put all of them on the list before the moving day. After that, go ahead and visit your local grocery store and ask them to land you some used card boxes they don’t need. This move will help the store owner to get rid of the garbage, and their garbage will be just what you need to keep it green. Making a detailed plan will save you a lot of time and money, and that’s the first step toward the sustainable and eco-friendly move.

Take care of the clutter

During the years, your house probably got a bit cluttered. Pick up a few biodegradable bags and start collecting all the paper piled on tables and desks. A lot of old newspaper, magazines, and mail probably accumulated around the house, so starting your cleaning action there is the best start. Decide what you really need and throw out everything else.

Make sure to sort all items so they could be recycled easily. This pre-move cleaning will save you a lot of money because you won’t need to burn plenty of fuel during moving. You’ll have less stuff to pack, and you’ll need fewer trips until you’re done. Another great way of recycling unused stuff is to organize a yard sale and try to sell as much as you can. The money earned can be used to ease up the moving process.

Give your best to move light

The more stuff you have with you, the more gas you’ll need for transport. More gas means more combustion and therefore, more carbon dioxide. The latter is the main threat to the whole planet and everything alive, so your every action should be directed toward reduction of harmful gases emission.

As mentioned before, moving with less stuff will save you a great portion of time and money as well. Don’t miss the opportunity to save the planet and move successfully at the same time. This type of situation won’t be in front of you every day, so give your best and take advantage of it while you have a chance.

Get some eco-friendly moving supplies

In order to complete your eco-friendly moving adventure, you’ll need to begin with packing. A great way to start gathering moving supplies is to ask friends and reuse theirs. Another way is to pay a visit to a few local businesses and ask them to provide you with some free supplies. By taking their stuff away, they’ll save some time on recycling and cleaning.

If you’re still not sure how to pack all your stuff you can get in touch with a leading reamovalist company in your area, and they’ll be happy to assist. You may try with recyclable plastic boxes which are completely environment-friendly and even cheaper than cardboard ones. Make sure to pack your stuff in an efficient manner, so you won’t waste a lot of energy once you arrive in your new home.

Consider fuel and shipping options

Regardless of the distance between your old and new house, you should really take some time and decide which shipping option is best for you. There are a lot of factors that will affect the amount of gas you’ll burn during the move. You’ll need to think about the weight of your stuff, the size of the moving vehicle, the way you drive etc.

All of that will affect the emission of carbon dioxide. Because of that, try to go green. Consider using a track that run on biodiesel fuel. It’s not that common yet, but there are some companies which will offer that option. If you need to move your car as well, go ahead and put it on a train since it’s cleaner and easier.

Ask around about eco-friendly moving company

Find a few friends that moved recently and ask them about habits of their movers. Gather as much information as you can before hiring anybody. Once you’re done with preliminary research, go ahead and contact moving companies directly. Ask them about their services and environmental credentials.

Learn about specific measures they take while moving in order to save the environment. Talk about their vehicles and ask for fuel-efficient ones. Your favorite should be the company that offered some packing tips and of course the one that is oriented toward preserving the planet.

Go with energy-efficient products

Once you decided to move, you should consider replacing your old appliances with some new generation ones. Those are much more energy efficient and will help you to keep up with an eco-friendly way of living in the new home. Your next step should be investing in a few power strips which will do a perfect job of managing power to your new appliances.

Don’t forget to recycle your old appliances by selling them to a junkyard which is green oriented, or donate them to those in need. There are a lot of people out there that need a washing machine, stove, or a vacuum cleaner.

Continue with eco-friendly life

Once you got packed and moved successfully, it is time to start a new life. Once you arrive at your new home, start with unpacking and recycling everything you took with yourself but don’t really need. A good way of achieving this is to donate old clothes and toys. Keeping your brain healthy and functional takes some special activities and thoughts. For starters, being negative all the time has a negative effect on mental health. One of the best advice I’ve ever received from someone was that you should always look at things either positively or neutrally.

For example, if something bad happens, try your best to find something positive about that situation. Also, following a specific life teaching helps keep your brain healthy since you always have goals set for you that exist to make you a better person.

Working out is also a recommendation that doctors often give to patients who have mental health issues such as depression, insomnia, anxiety, and various others. Exercising has been proven to boost your mood and take care of mental illnesses such as the ones we mentioned.

The type of exercise isn’t incredibly important if you aren’t looking to make yourself involved in sports and making yourself look amazing. If you’re just looking for boosting your mental health and maybe even trying to lose some weight, exercising is a perfect choice.

If working out isn’t what you’re after, here are seven quick and simple tips to boost your mental health.

Try Meditation

Meditation has been used by an incredible number of people for various purposes. It’s a great way of conserving energy and letting go of excess stress. An interesting fact regarding meditation is that you can slow down your own heartbeat with enough practice.

There have been cases where meditation gurus slowed down their heartbeats to around 20-30 beats per minute which is around two times slower than a regular person’s heartbeat. There are many guides on the topic of meditation, but the thing you should remember is to simply relax and focus on one spot, most commonly the tip of your nose.

Focus on your breathing, and you’ll soon find yourself completely devoid of all stress and negative thoughts. Two 15-minute sessions during the day should be enough to help you out and boost your mental health. One in the morning and one in the evening, just before sleep.

Meditation might not cause you to fix all of your mental issues quickly, but the road is easy and steady. It also helps long term by causing you to ignore some problems that aren’t really problems (for example, when you give too much thought for something that doesn’t matter). In the end, meditation is great on its own, but it’s even better when combined with some other methods that are just as effective!

Exercise Regularly

When all else fails – exercise! This is a common opinion of doctors that have patients who are battling various mental conditions such as depression and anxiety. Science has proven that working out has the same effect on mental health as certain medications, and it’s probably even healthier.

People who have been going to see a psychologist or psychiatrist and haven’t achieved any results usually lock themselves in even more. However, once they start working out, the issues seemingly begin to resolve themselves.

The reason behind this is that the body produces an increased amount of chemicals such as serotonin, testosterone, and various others. This is interesting because most people that suffer from depression have an extremely low level of serotonin which sometimes can’t even be solved with medications.

However, working out causes the body to release the chemical no matter what, so people feel relief when working out. Exercising regularly also helps improve your overall health and boost your mental abilities since more oxygen-rich blood reaches the brain on a constant basis.

Get Enough Sleep

You’ve probably had situations where you had extra work and couldn’t sleep properly. If this happened for more than one day, then you likely had issues concentrating and doing your usual chores around the house. Sleep deprivation is a serious issue and can even cause death. Not getting enough sleep on a daily basis won’t cause fatal results but it will impact your brain’s ability to function normally.

We’ve all been teenagers once and stayed up late while getting up early for school, so you probably know the feeling. The issues start appearing once you get a little bit older. Your body can no longer follow that tempo, and it starts to self-destruct (not as spectacular or quick as you might think). The brain doesn’t have time to repair all the damaged cells throughout the body and, with not enough sleep, the damage just keeps getting worse.

If you want to have a healthy brain, make sure you get enough sleep. 6-8 hours is enough for an adult but if you are below 40 years old, make sure that it’s closer to 8 hours of sleep rather than 6. Once you get old, 6 or even 5 hours of sleep will be enough.

In any case, if you have issues with sleeping, you might want to take a look at Kratom Crazy, a website where you can purchase Kratom. Kratom is a plant that is healthy and can help you with insomnia, as long as you get the correct strain.

Add Protein-Rich Food in Your Diet

Here’s something you might not have known: An improper diet can cause your mental health to deteriorate! An unhealthy diet will not only cause physical issues in the form of weight gain, but it will also cause you to lose focus, and it can even influence your memory. You can change this by adding protein-rich food to your diet and getting rid of fast food and sugars. Chocolate is healthy but in moderate amounts, while other sweet food such as candy and similar isn’t as good for you.

Protein-rich food such as beans, pork tenderloin, seafood, and various others are incredibly tasty if prepared properly. If you aren’t a fan of meat, you can make protein shakes and soy, but be warned that vegetables aren’t usually rich in protein so don’t think that a veggie-only diet will do enough for your mental health. Seafood is awesome, and it’s a great choice because it’s low in fat while being incredibly rich in protein.

Listen to Music

How many times have you heard a friend say “Music has helped me pull through”? Or even, how many times have you said it yourself? Many people can’t go through a day without listening to music and rightfully so. Science has proven that music has a strong effect on the human psyche. Music can help you through tough times, or help you achieve your goals. Whatever music you listen to, if it makes you happy, it makes you healthy as well.

Even though some music is supposed to be better at this than other music (such as classical music which is considered the best choice for this) – the music that makes you happy and the music you love is just as powerful.

Music causes our brain to relax and release certain chemicals in a similar way as when working out. Different wavelengths have different effects so some music can make you feel energetic while other types of music can cause you to relax. In the end, it doesn’t matter what you listen to as long as you enjoy it and feel good about it!

Eliminate Bad Habits

Sometime in the past, I used to drink alcohol whenever I wasn’t feeling good. I would close myself up to anyone who’s inquiring to see what’s wrong. Then I’d drink myself to oblivion. This all changed when I found out about certain methods to live a better life. I swore to myself never to look at alcohol again in such a way, and I’ve kept that promise.

It’s no secret that bad habits such as alcohol, cigarettes, drugs, laziness, and various others can cause you to live a not-so-happy life. The path towards better mental health is dealing with all the bad habits and getting rid of them step by step since we all know it’s nigh impossible to completely stop with a habit instantly.

Spend Quality Time With Your Friends

“Friends are family” is what I always used to say when I had issues that I didn’t want to talk about. Friends are there to help you out and listen to you, no matter what problems you’re having. Have a coffee with a couple of your friends and tell them about your issues and you’ll see that by simply talking about your problems you’re influencing the way you feel about life. You will feel better, and you will appreciate your friends even more – it’s simply how life works.

Plus, spending quality time with friends makes us happy and fulfilled, so there’s that!
