---WHAT IS CASH GIFTING?

There are two types of cash g'ifting.

1) Direct: Like a pyramid. You give cash (some call it donations) to your sponsor with a promise that anybody who signs up with you will give their money to you. It is also usually 2-up pyramid. So people on the top get the majority of money.

2) Indirect: The owner of the scheme promises that every newcomer will give his cash/money donation to random members. They redirect almost all money to themselves - thus a scam.

It is called "gifting" because when you give your money donation, you sign off your right to get it back and you also sign off your right to receive any profit from it. It is essentially like giving a gift to a scheming stranger.

---WHAT IS A PYRAMID SCHEME?

If a program does not have a real product or legitimate service, then it is considered to be a Pyramid Scheme. Regulations state that the difference between a pyramid scheme and a legitimate program is based on the program's product and how that product is sold.

Legitimate Program:
If you can sell a real product or service and make money from reselling (or as an affiliate program) then the program is considered legitimate.

Not a Legitimate Program:
If the money is made only from referring other people, then it is not a legitimate program and is considered to be a pyramid scheme. If all a program does is sign up people, then it is not considered legitimate.
